Durban Beach Africa

So like for a week in winter (July) Durban hosts a beach festival. That's cos Durban has the best weather and waves IN THE WORLD. I had to work on a presentation on Saturday (8/07/2006) and so after work Nisha and me decided to take a drive to the festival. It was soooooo amazing. The people, the vibe, the weather, the surfers, the food....just sooo good. I forgot how awesome the beach actually is. And to think its right on my doorstep?!?! I've decided to make better use of this facility. Maybe I should take up surfing. HA!...Just kidding! I don't do shorts!

Remember "Monkey Magic"

So I was bored at work, yet again and so I decided to play on the net. Call it an act of fate, but I managed to stumble upon a site of one of my favorite childhood TV shows called "Monkey Magic". I can barely remember it as I was like 6 years old when I used to watch. However I used to watch religiously with my brother and sister.

The series was based on a 16th Century Chinese epic called "Hsi Yu Chi". The show had the makings of a true cult classic (which it is)....fantasy, legends, magic and the most important ingredient of all, Kungfu. AND WAIT FOR IT! The best part is that it has been released on DVD in the States. I know what I want for Xmas. AWESOME!!!!

Oh, I thought I'd just add the narrative intro to the show on my blogg. Each show started with this classic intro and then broke into the theme song that went "Monkey magic! Monkey Magic! Monkey Magic...dum dum da da da......" So here's that into:

"In the world before Monkey, primal chaos reigned. Heaven sought order, but the phoenix can fly only when its feathers are grown. The four worlds formed again and yet again, as endless aeons wheeled and passed. Time and the pure essences of heaven all worked upon a certain rock, old as creation. It became magically fertile. The first egg was named "Thought". Tathagata Buddha, the Father Buddha said "With our thoughts, we make the world". Elemental forces caused the egg to hatch. From it came a stone monkey. The nature of monkey was irrepressible!!!!!"

LIKE HOW FREEKIN AWESOME IS THAT INTRO!!!!! 70's shows rocked!!!!!!

COWABUNGA!!!!!!!

Like how 80's! I found this skateboard at work. I decided to learn how to skateboard (yes, I didn't know how...I blame the white supremist government that deprived me of these simple pleasures during my youth. HA!). Now I can...still very rusty and unsure how to stop the darn thing. So now I skateboard EVERYWHERE (in the office). And I mainly ram into things. AWESOME!!!!!! WWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

Raksha's Wedding party

So it was my mate, Raksha's, wedding two weeks ago. And I was invited, along with my two other work mates, Ryan & Shivanie. See, Raksha is actually Nisha's (work mate) sister. SSSSOOOOO anyway, they had a traditional Hindu wedding. Now for those who don't know, a typical Hindu wedding last three days. The first night is called mendhi. Mendhi is the decorative art of applying henna on your hands and feet (I read that on the internet).

Only the bride and women at the Mendhi night apply henna on their hands. But I saw this as an opportunity to hijack this event and make it my own. After seeing Raksha's amazing designs (see picture), I decided to give it a try. Note I was the only "dude" on the bridal altar/stage with a group of giggling women around him. Oh wait, Ryan was also there...mainly as support...oh and my queer mate, Azvir, was there two. Ok so there were three dudes on the stage. I, of course, was the only one decorating his hands with the girls. FUN!!!!

Well, after my attempt at some pretty amazing artwork (see pic), I was surrounded by a bunch of six year olds who also wanted me to decorate their hands. I had groupies. FUN!
One "mother" asked, "So how long does the henna have to stay on your hands."
"I don't know. Its my first time at this henna thing" I said.

The women on the stage giggled once again and said, "He must be a graphic designer"

I just smiled. I really wanted to say, "No sistas! I'm just gay and fabulous!" (snap! snap! Swaying hand)

All I've ever wanted.....

I have this sudden craving for an iced milk tea. But not just any iced milk tea. I want the kind I used to buy from the quaint tea stand on Nan Men Road in Taichung (Taiwan). I really miss milk tea. I used to have one at lunch and one in the evening everyday for 2 years. And then...poof!!!...I stopped. I blame South Africa. We don't do tea stands like they do in Asia. Today I salute milk tea. May you forever be remembered for your milky goodness on a hot summer's day.

So like the world didn't end........oh well, another day at work. ZZZZZZZZzzzzZZZZZZZzzzzzzZZZZZZzzzzzz

Greetings bloggers

Today is 6/6/06. To mark this "special" day I've decided to start me own blogspot. Awesome! This way, when the world ends, and the aliens get hold of the company server (which survived the massive asteriod disaster), a "short" record of Brendan's history will live on. My face might grace alien T-shirts on some far away galaxy. But then one might pose the following question, "Do aliens have T-shirts?".....hhmmmmmmmmm

Its quite obvious that I am bored at work. Oh no! But dont get me wrong. There is indeed lots to do. But why spend this last day on earth (thats what the mormons told me) working, conceptualising, stratergising, and producing great advertisements?

Its 08:06am in the morning. I need my tea. Why, it might be the last tea I ever drink. Ha...I laugh.
